Jharkot to Kagbeni
The chortens and the grey, but
colourful, barren mountains between Jharkot and Kagbeni are a
fascinating sight

Kagbeni
Kagbeni gompa
Kagbeni is a green oasis at
the junction of Jhong Khola (Muktinath valley) and the Kali Gandaki. It has a large
gompa and ruins of an old fortress.

The mud figures and spirit traps guarding gates
and houses in Kagbeni are reminders that animism is still alive
here.

Red House Lodge, Kagbeni

The Red House was the first lodge in Kagbeni and
has a lot of atmosphere.
Tenzing
has extended the lodge considerably this year and has added a solar
room on the roof. His mother and her sister are busy in the kitchen.
